Day 6 — I Never Thought I’d Have to Learn to Walk Again
Think about the last time you got out of bed and walked to the bathroom.
Did you think about where to put your feet? How to balance? Whether your leg would cooperate?
Of course not.
Neither did I.
Then I had my stroke.
Suddenly, walking wasn't something my body just knew how to do anymore. That's today but when I first had the stroke I had to rely on others to take me to the bathroom and wipe my butt. That lasted for months and even after I got home.
It's taken me nearly a year to get to where I can walk with a walker and cane.
And believe me, I never imagined I'd be celebrating something I used to do without even thinking.
